Recent Google Attack - Thumbs-Down for Internet Explorer

With the recent attack on Google, German government issues warning over the use Internet Explorer in browsing the Internet. As Microsoft admitted, IE is the weak link in the recent invasion of Google systems.

It was not clear yet as to what kind of malware was used by the Chinese to attack Google. Microsoft released that such kind of attack was not directed to the general consumer but rather only towards the target intended specifically by the attackers, thus the warning of the German government against the use of IE is frowned upon by Microsoft.
Microsoft further said that the risk to the consumers is low and that Internet Explorer's increased security settings will prevent these kind of exploits. Truth be told though, Microsoft has not released a patch yet to fix the issue. A patch might come soon yet it is tricky to install since it should apply to versions 6, 7 and 8 of Internet Explorer.

While switching to another browser might protect you from the current vulnerability, it can also expose you to another.
